My husband and I are starting our own vegetable, herb and flower gardens around
our home. We have started the seeds in the last few weeks in our own indoor
greenhouse. We are so anxious to see and taste the "fruits" of
our labor! Thanks SLP!

I use a counter-top composter, a stainless steel pail with an odor reducing
filter in the lid, (although any pail with a lid with do!) to put my veggie
and fruit scraps in while I am cooking meals so I don't have to make so many
trips out to the compost pile all the time. I just dump it when it is full!

I say no to straws and try to unplug electrical gadgets when they are not in
use.

I like to donate gently-used items to Goodwill and to shop there for some
things too. Plus, the donations can add up to benefits for you at tax time
too.

Our lights are turned off so often that our neighbors think we aren't home
most of the time.

I always line-dry my laundry in the summer, but I've also found that it's
easy to 'ironing board' dry indoors in the winter. I hang all my wet clothes
around
the edge of my ironing board and set it out of the way in my bedroom. They
dry nicely, and the added benefit is that it acts as a free humidifier for
my room!

I love my compost pile! You see commercials talking about smelly garbage-
well, if you put icky food in your compost and not in your garbage, you won't
have smelly garbage naturally! AND I have not noticed any icky smell from
my compost either! (and it IS close to my house...) So start composing, you'll
reduce your waste, get rid of smelly garbage, and your plants will love you
too!
